This report documents simplifications of the two transport model systems in use in Norway (RTM and NTM6). The motivation is to produce simplified transport model tools that will mean that analyses of various measures can be carried out significantly faster, and it will thus be possible to establish a much broader set of calculations/scenarios as a basis for assessments of, for example, future transport demand, and the consequences of this. The simplifications mainly concern the joint mode/destination models in both model systems. The travel purposes are reduced to two in both simplified model systems. The number of segments has also been reduced significantly in both model systems. The simplification is based on professional judgement and not a re-estimation that would require a significantly greater effort. For both model systems, calibration routines have been established that ensure similarity in the trip pattern to the full variants. The models (full vs. simplified) don't give exactly the same model response, but we didn't expect that either.
