About 100.000 persons live in the region south of Oslo consisting of 7 municipalities. During a period of less than one year it was constructed two new shopping malls each offering 85 shops on about 25.000 m2. More than 6000 persons have been interviewed in either of the shopping malls or on the streets of the old town mall. The study has provided a description of typical users of the shops and services, their preferred mode of transport and what geographical area the services covers. There is a clear interaction between the location of the shopping mall and choice of transport mode.
