The report describes the current road safety situation on the roads in the current Buskerud county, with a particular focus on the county road network. It is based on official injury statistics (2013-2023) and information about the road network from 2016-2023. The results highlight the following accidents types: Head-on collisions, run-off-road, intersection crashes, and pedestrian crashes. Effective measures against such crashes include center and edge line rumble strips to prevent head-on and run-off-road crashes, improving geometry and sight conditions at intersections, and walking facilities along roads, as well as safe pedestrian crossings to prevent pedestrian accidents. General measures against various crash types are speed cameras, as well as speed humps or similar measures in urban areas. Another general measure is improved winter maintenance and resurfacing or other measures to improve road surfaces. To find the right measures for the right locations, analyses of historical accident data and road safety inspections are appropriate.
