The results of studies of the relationship bet-ween road alignment and road safety have been summarized. It was not possible to apply meta-analysis to summarise study findings. Findings are represented by means of the median results of sets of studies. The relation¬ship between specific alignment parameters and accidents is shown by means of functional relationships when this is possible. The number of accidents is influenced by many alignment parameters that tend to be correlated.
