The report contains an estimate of the annual frequency of disasters in transport. A disaster is defined as an accident in which more than 20 people are killed. The frequency of disasters is estimated to 1 in 11 years for air transport, 1 in 25 years for maritime travel, 1 in 100 years for rail transport and 1 in about 46,500 years for road transport.
