The report summarizes the project "Regional land-use policy" under the auspices of KS, in which politicians, county planning managers and other professionals from six counties shared experiences and knowledge in 13 seminars. An important question is "on whose watch" the necessary restructuring should take place, since there are only seven county election periods until 2050. The project has concretised why sustainable land use planning and nature conservation are important, and what role the regional elected level can and should play in this work. The county authorities are in a unique position to influence both goals, tools and systems in the work for sustainable land use management, and to support the municipalities in their role as land-use planning authorities. The project has shed light on new tools and working methods related to knowledge building and analyses, in addition to methods for interaction both between politics and administration and between different societal actors in the regional work for necessary restructuring.
