Sammenddrag

The report presents a summary of selected research reports and government documents which present findings and policies based on parking as a measure to reduce private vehicle use in the Oslo region. Policies introduced in the USA and UK are discussed. A regional parking policy is found to be essential, but selected measures can be used locally. Parking is a challenging policy area made up of private and public interests and the need to define a balance between demand and supply. Parking occupies urban areas of great value. These areas can also be reserves for future urban development.
