Sammendrag

The emission of NO2 from road traffic has been increasing in Norway, this is mainly due to the increased number of diesel passenger cars. Even if new vehicles satisfy the Euro standards, the actual emission in real life traffic are higher than the standards allow for. This especially applies for typically city situations (with uneven motor load) and cold climatic situations. Our calculations for major Norwegian cities (Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim) show increased emission of NO2 until 2015, then a decrease towards 2025. Even with a decrease of NO2 in 2025, the level may still lead to NO2 concentration above existing requirements. There in uncertainties in the calculations, especially concerning the real life emission from Euro 6/VI vehicles.
