A study has been made of the logistics costs occurring between the breweries and the four largest convenience chains in Norway. The costs connected to the supply of beverages from breweries to grocery shops are calculated at NOK 1.52 pr litre distributed beverage (= appr € 0.19). This cost includes all logistic activities at the producer’s end, in the convenience chain, and in the grocery shop. Reverse logistics of beverage packaging that includes transport of new packaging (bottles and cans), transport of used bottles between breweries, and preparation of new bottling, cost NOK 1.19 pr litre distributed beverage. Three scenarios for the future organisation of beverage distribution in Norway have been developed. However, the cost differences are so small that no reliable conclusion can be drawn on what scenario represents the most effective distribution.
