The border visitor survey for the winter season 1999 comprehends all foreigners' visits to Norway from January till April. In this period 1,2 million foreign guests visited Norway for business and holiday purposes.
About 825 000 of the guests stayed at least one night in Norway, and they spent nearly 5 million guest nights in the country. The total number of arrivals has increased by 5 per cent and the total number of guest nights by 4 per cent since the previous winter season. Sweden and Denmark are the main source markets.
