The border visitor survey for the summer season 1999 comprehends all foreigners’ visits to Norway from May till September. In this period 3,25 million foreign guests visited Norway for business and holiday purposes. Nearly 2 million of the guests stayed at least one night in Norway, and they spent 15 million guest nights in the country. 2 million of these guest nights are related to business travels, 13 million to holiday travels. Compared to the previous summer season, an increase by 11 per cent in the number of guest nights has been registered for the business travels, while the holiday travels decreased by 8 per cent during the same period.
