The border visitor survey for the summer season 1998 comprehends all foreigners' visits to Norway from May till September. In this period 3,15 million foreign guests visited Norway for business and holiday purposes. Nearly 2 million of the guests stayed at least one night in Norway, and they spent 17 million guest nights in the country. 14,6 million of these guest nights are related to holiday traffic. An increase by five per cent in the number of guest nights has been registered from the previous summer season among the foreign motor visitors who visited Norway for holiday purposes.
