This report provides a review of current statistics on freight transport and of various new data sources stemming from different registration systems. We point out strengths and weaknesses in the different statistics and the potential new data sources. Shortcomings in today’s data are particularly when data are to be used for applications around city logistics. This report provides suggestions for improvements that may strengthen the current freight statistics.
