Sammendrag,, rev. 1 pdf

This report delivers a broad knowledge base for aviation’s transition to low emissions in Norway. Initially, current air travel patterns and emis¬sions from Norwegian aviation are mapped. Subsequent¬ly, the potential for reaching significant emission reduction is looked at via three dimensions: Lesser air travel, better energy efficiency and energy carriers with low or zero emissions. Primary focus is on the potential and timeframe for transition to low- and zero-technologies, and on barriers in the value chains for implementation of these technolo¬gies. Three scenarios for CO2-emissions toward 2050 from Norwegian aviation are analyzed with a view to the various technologies’ contribution to reductions. Energy efficiency and sustainable aviation fuels appear to be the main factors. Finally, the perspec-tives for Norway and Norwegian industry to invest in green aviation technology is considered.
