In this report we summarise an evaluation of the Swedish research program Transport Economics financed by Swedish Transport Administration. Cooperation between financing organization and research institutions is a very fruitful form of organizing research but needs to be followed by independent evaluations. We find that the program has, so far, focused on very applied studies for the Administration and that the research could have been more innovative. At the same time, the program publish much in English language, also work that is not aimed for international journals, which makes international feedback easier. The majority of the publications have scientific merit but we propose that the program focus more on some areas where the contributions have lower scientific quality.
