On behalf of the Ministry of Local Government and Modernization, TØI has updated the division of Norwegian municipalities into housing and labor market regions. This division resulted in 159 regions - 2 fewer than the previous division from 2013. There have also been changes in the method of defining the regions. However, commuting level and travel time are, as before, used to measure functional integration. The regions are used in various economic analyzes where there is a need for functional regions at a level between municipalities and counties.
