Cost Benefit Analysis of Risøyrenna

Risøyrenna is the narrow strait between Andøya and Hinnøya in Nordland. In strong wind Risøyrenna can be difficult to pass, and there exist different plans for making the passage wider. The most actual alternative has a cost/-benefit-ratio of 0,57, a number which is very uncertain. The uncertainty is mainly connected to the cost of accidents, the number of omitted calls for «hurtigruten», and the possibility of increased probability for the case that «Hurtigruten» will omit calls in Vesterålen if Risøyrenna is not widened.
