Total domestic goods transport costs in Norway fell from 10.6% of gross national product in 1981, to 7.9% in 1990. In order to find explanations for this, a comparative analysis of truck transport markets in Sweden and Norway was performed. In addition, an in-depth study of the Norwegian truck transport market was made. Transport prices have developed more favourably in Norway than in Sweden, eliminating the price differntial that used exist. A more cursory comparison is made for rail transport.
