Sammendrag

In accordance with Directive 2000/30 EC the regulated annual roadworthiness test is not sufficient to guarantee that commercial vehicles tested are in roadworthy condition throughout the year. Among other technical objects shal the brakes be tested at a roadside roadworthiness inspection. Norwegian Public Roads Administration have drawen up a guidance for the inspection of brakes. Based on the control of 164 heavy vehicles, have we produced an overview of the number of vehicles with defects and undertaken a judgment of control practices, criteria for remarks and possible driving ban. An assumption for roadside roadworthiness inspections, is that the controll must be simple and minimising the delays to drivers and operators. Based on the vehicles inspected we have estimated and recommended alternatively practices and criteria to uncover vehicles with defects on the brakes.
