Sammendrag

The research project BYTRANS has empirically investigated how different road transport system user adapted to major, planned changes in the urban transport systems in Oslo, what effects and consequences hey experienced and what effects and consequences could be observed in the transport systems. The aim was to develop knowledge that can be useful in the work of developing the more efficient and environmentally friendly urban transport systems of the future. The results showed that the road users adapt in various ways, resulting in significantly less effects and consequences of reduced accessibility by car in the urban transport systems than many believed. This opens opportunities and room for manoeuvre in the development of the more efficient and environmentally friendly urban transport systems of the future that are greater than often assumed. The project also revealed knowledge gaps that remain to be covered.
