Shipping agents in Finnmark - activities in transition

The shipping agents in the northernmost Norwegian county of Finnmark have a considerable share of their turnover related to the Hurtigruten coastal shipping operations. They are vulnerable in competition from road transport, and suffer from fluctuations in initially small goods volumes.  The prospects for 2007 are, however, not worse than a year earlier. Public purchase of passenger transport on Hurtigruten also helps to maintain an attractive freight transport product, but the supporting activities on shore has not been given equal attention.
