Bjørne Grimsrud is the new director at TØI

Grimsrud has a degree in social economics from the University of Oslo and comes from the position of Deputy Road Director and Director of Finance and Business Management in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (SVV). Before joining the SVV, he was director of the strategy department at Statsbygg (2013 - 2016).

Grimsrud worked five years as a researcher and seven years as research leader at the research foundation Fafo (1995 - 2007). He also has experience from International organizations and holds a number of professional positions as leader of numerous steering groups; Oslo Package 3, urban package Nord-Jæren, Miljøløftet in the Bergen region, and the Environmental Package in the Trondheim area.

- The transport sector faces significant challenges and opportunities in the future, be it COVID 19, the green shift, innovation and the transport revolution in digitalization, urban mobility and the final phase of the National Transport Plan. I look forward to leading TØI and contributing to strengthening Norwegian transport research, developing knowledge, ensuring the best possible decision basis and clarifying the road choices we face, for the benefit of the transport sector in Norway, says Bjørne Grimsrud.

- We are looking forward to getting Bjørne Grimsrud to TØI. In his current role as director of finance and business management in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, he knows the sector, cities and decision-makers very well, says Ole A. Hagen, chairman of the board of TØI.

Grimsrud takes over the position from Gunnar Lindberg who has led TØI for 7 years.
