Sammendrag

Economies of scale in production and warehousing, and increasing internationalization of trade and manufacturing have lead to an enlarged distance between production and consumption. The chosen logistics solution has great impact on the scope of transport, especially when production and warehousing are centralized. An increase in the import of consumer goods is also contributing to the increase in domestic freight transport. Most imported consumer goods arrive by road to wholesalers in the Oslo region and are mainly distributed throughout Norway by road. The main forces behind the volume of freight transport work are linked to goods volume, where the goods are produced and consumed, and where the wholesalers are located. Structure changes in these factors are the main reasons for this study.
